ABOUT

About

As the social environment becomes increasingly complex and unpredictable, we believe it is necessary to acquire overwhelming speed to better handle sudden changes as quickly as possible.

These situations can be collectively referred to as “VUCA.” VUCA is an acronym for four key words: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity, which were used at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2016 and have become subjects of much attention. Nowadays, it is commonly used in the business scene and has become a premise regarding the ways of thinking about work, organization, and management. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, we have truly experienced a VUCA situation.

ASED Lab.’s view on the importance of “Integrated Knowledge.”

In order to address VUCA, a “comprehensive knowledge” approach that utilizes ASED in a correlated and cross-functional manner is precisely what is needed now.

Concept

The project will bring cutting-edge technology into the manufacturing field with the participation of elite members in the fields of Art, Science, Engineering, and Design, and contribute to the succession and development of Japanese manufacturing techniques and technology.

ASED Lab. was established as a group company of Daisan Kouki Corporation, a manufacturing company with 75 years of history.

The move to expand into the IT field, which can be called the polar opposite of the manufacturing industry known as the “old economy,” began with Daisan Koki’s philosophy of always taking on new challenges.

In many ways, Japan feels to be in a bind these days. We believe that what is needed in times like these is the will to continue to take on new challenges.

The fusion of Art, Science, Engineering, and Design is the theme of ASED Lab.

We will not only focus on visible needs and things we are currently capable of, but will also proactively envision what the future should look like, and quickly realize it through innovation and by mobilizing the collective efforts of industry, academia, and government.
